Adding a program to a computer
Adding a program to a computer is also called installing a program.
When you install a program, the program files and folders are put into your computer. You can now run it from your computer.
Before starting installation of a program, save your work and close all windows. Now do the following to add a new program:
To add a new program:
1. Insert the disk of the program into the CD/DVD drive.
2. An AutoPlay menu opens.
3. There are two options in the menu. By clicking the first option, you can run the setup of the program directly. It installs the program automatically. By
clicking the second option, you can
open the folder to view the files of the program.
It is better and easy to select the first option.
4. When you click the first option, the installation wizard opens. Follow
the instructions to install the program.
5. If you click the second option, CD Rom folder opens. Now search
the file by the name of Setup and double-click it. The installation
wizard opens. Follow the instructions to install the program.
Note that
If the AutoPlay menu doesn't open automatically after inserting the
disk into the drive:
1. Double-click the Computer on the desktop.
2. Double-click CD or DVD Drive icon. It opens.
3. Now search the file named Setup and double-click it.
4. The installation wizard opens. Follow the instructions to install the program.
5. At the end, the wizard asks to click the Finish or Ok buttons to
complete the installation. Press it. The program is installed.
6. Restart the computer if it is recommended by the wizard.
7. Go to the start menu, the installed program appears in All Programs
8. Left-click the program to use it.
